Location

Pawapi prides itself on being one of the most unique hotels in the Trang Islands; set among wild flowers, coconut palms, cashew, mango and tamarind trees withan unparalleled view from a picture postcard white sand Thailand peninsular.

Pawapi resort has 350 metres of white sand beach on the eastern side of Koh Mook; we are a 5 minute walk from the local pier either via a short beach walk or through the local village, Ban Koh Mook.

On a wider scale, Koh Mook is ideally located to explore the neighbouring Trang islands and beyond. Located two hours from the increasingly popular Koh Lipe and one hour from Koh Lanta (by speedboat) and Koh Hai (Ngai) and Koh Kradan a short longtail boat ride away.

A sense of scale: Koh Mook is approx. 3.5 by 4 km. and 50% of that area is not inhabited, therefore think small! There is basically one main road from the port area, (ferry and pier) over to Hat Farang with a few other small ‘off-shoot’ roads. Nowhere is more than a 30 minute walk away within the ‘peopled’ area. For example, Pawapi Resort to Charlie Beach, (also known as Hat Farang) = 25 minutes. A 3 wheeler motorcycle taxi for the same journey, takes less than ten minutes and costs 50 baht per person. Pawapi to the local shops is 3 minutes, past the mosque and school, (see map overleaf).

The eastern part of the island, on and around the peninsular where Pawapi, Sivilai, Eco Nature resort are located, is quieter than the western side. The flavour is more local and typical of Thai village life; most people are rubber tree tappers or fishermen.

Getting to Us

International Flights

Krabi International airport and Phuket International Airport are the closest international airports to Trang. Bus and mini-van transfers from these airports are available.

Locally

If you are in Trang it is easiest is to get a combined minibus/longtail ticket (around 200-300 baht) from one of the travel agents in the street opposite Trang railway station.

One of the better known is Mister Lee (also known as Bang lee) who leaves from K.K. Travel opposite the train station every morning at 11.00. After the 45 minute mini-van ride, he changes hats and pilots the local ferry from Kuan Thung Khu port on the mainland over to the pier on Koh Mook (east side). From there you are only a short walk to Pawapi resort.

By Air (domestic)

Two airlines now fly to Trang from Bangkok on a daily basis:

Nok Air
www.nokair.com
tel: 1318

Air Asia
www.airasia.com
Between the two of them they offer morning or afternoon arrival. Pawapi is happy to arrange transport from the airport to the resort including by private air-conditioned mini-van (45 mins) and private long-tail (30 mins) at 1,400 baht: airport to sitting on the beach time, just over an hour.

By Train

Trang has a direct train connection with Bangkok with two arrivals daily. The sleeper trains are a great experience traveling down the Thai peninsular with a cold drink, a plate of rice and chicken or other local food rushed onto the train at each small stop.

Twice daily 5.05, 6.20
